Quick answer
As of 19 September 2026, hostgator.in's hosting pages redirect to BigRock, both Newfold brands, with a migration campaign tag on the link. You can no longer buy HostGator India shared hosting directly. If you already host there your account still works, but you are effectively a BigRock customer now. BigRock's Business plan is INR 159/month renewing at INR 649; Hostinger Unlimited is INR 249/month renewing at the same INR 649, with 50 websites against BigRock's 5 and roughly 100,000 monthly visits of headroom.
HostGator India has been folded into BigRock
This is the first thing to know, and it is new. On 19 September 2026 every hosting product link on hostgator.in redirected to bigrock.in carrying a utm_campaign=migration tag. Shared hosting, cloud hosting, the lot. HostGator India and BigRock are both Newfold Digital brands, and Newfold has consolidated the Indian hosting business onto BigRock.
What this means in practice:
- You cannot buy HostGator India shared hosting as a new customer. The buy links take you to BigRock plans.
- Existing accounts keep running. Your cPanel, your site and your renewal notices carry on for now.
- Your renewal will be a Newfold decision, not a HostGator one. Historically these consolidations end with accounts migrated onto the surviving brand's platform and pricing.
If you are on HostGator India today, this is a reasonable moment to decide where you want to be for the next four years rather than waiting to be moved.
So the real comparison is Hostinger vs BigRock
| Hostinger Unlimited | BigRock Business | |
|---|---|---|
| Intro price | INR 249/month (48 mo) | INR 159/month |
| Renewal | INR 649/month | INR 649/month |
| Websites | 50 | 5 |
| Storage | 50 GB NVMe | 25 GB NVMe SSD |
| Visits guidance | ~100,000/month | Not published |
| Backups | Daily, one-click restore | Daily |
| SSL | Free, all plans | Free Let's Encrypt |
| Free domain | 1 year | 1 year |
| Control panel | hPanel | cPanel |
| Support | 24/7 chat | 24/7 chat and phone |

The renewal rate is identical at INR 649/month. The difference is what you get for it: 50 websites and 50 GB on Hostinger against 5 websites and 25 GB on BigRock. BigRock is cheaper for the first term and costs the same from the second.
The old backup argument no longer applies
An earlier version of this page said HostGator India sold backups as a CodeGuard add-on. BigRock includes daily backups on every Linux hosting plan, as does Hostinger. Both mark them with an asterisk and both have restore conditions worth reading before you rely on them. Keep your own offsite backup either way; we do on every client site regardless of host.
About BigRock's speed claims
BigRock now publishes a comparison table on its own hosting page claiming a 0.23 s time to first byte against 0.31 s for Hostinger, plus faster LCP and full load. Treat it the way you would treat any vendor's self-published benchmark, including ours: the test conditions are not disclosed, and the result is the one the vendor wanted.
What we can say is what we measure. Our client sites on Hostinger Mumbai return cached WordPress pages in 60-110 ms TTFB from Ahmedabad, and sites we have migrated off HostGator India's older Apache shared servers were commonly 500 ms to 1.5 s. BigRock has since moved to NVMe and its stack is not what HostGator India's was, so we would not claim the old gap still holds. We will publish fresh side-by-side numbers on the speed tests page rather than guess here.
cPanel versus hPanel
If you or your developer know cPanel well, BigRock feels familiar and hPanel takes an afternoon to learn. hPanel is simpler for owners; cPanel exposes more for developers. Neither is a reason to choose a host on its own.
Verdict
If you are on HostGator India, you are being moved whether you act or not, so choose deliberately. BigRock is cheaper for a first term and identical on renewal with a fifth of the websites and half the storage. Hostinger costs INR 90/month more up front and gives you room to stop thinking about limits for four years. For a business site we would take Hostinger; for a single small site on the tightest budget, BigRock's first term is genuinely cheap.
The move is a cPanel backup and a Hostinger import, covered in the HostGator to Hostinger guide and as a fixed-price service.

Frequently asked questions
What happened to HostGator India?
Its hosting pages now redirect to BigRock, carrying a migration campaign tag. Both are Newfold Digital brands and the Indian hosting business has been consolidated onto BigRock. Existing HostGator India accounts still work, but you cannot buy new HostGator India shared hosting.
Is my HostGator India site still safe?
Yes, existing accounts continue to run. But renewals and any platform migration are now Newfold decisions made on BigRock's roadmap, so it is worth deciding where you want to be rather than waiting to be moved.
Is Hostinger cheaper than BigRock?
Not for the first term. BigRock Business is INR 159/month against Hostinger Unlimited at INR 249. They renew at exactly the same INR 649/month, and at that point Hostinger gives 50 websites and 50 GB NVMe against BigRock's 5 websites and 25 GB.
Does BigRock include backups?
Yes, daily backups are included on Linux hosting plans, marked with conditions. This is a change from HostGator India, which sold CodeGuard as an add-on. Keep your own offsite backup regardless of host.
Can I move from HostGator to Hostinger without downtime?
Yes. Copy the site to Hostinger, test on the temporary URL, recreate email and DNS, then switch nameservers. The old site keeps serving until DNS propagates.
Does Hostinger use cPanel?
No. Hostinger uses its own hPanel, which is simpler for site owners. Developers used to cPanel adapt within a day.
