Correcting our own maths
An earlier version of this page put Wix at INR 60,000 to 1,00,000 over four years. On Wix's current India pricing that is too high, and only Business Elite at INR 1,800/month comes close. The honest figures are INR 24,000 for Core and INR 43,200 for Business, against roughly INR 14,100 for Hostinger Unlimited with GST.
So Hostinger is still cheaper, by about INR 10,000 over four years against Wix Core rather than by five times. If cost were the only factor, the gap would not be decisive on its own. It is the combination of cost, speed, SEO control and ownership that makes the case.
One more thing the table hides
Wix charges per site. Hostinger Unlimited hosts 50. If you run, or will ever run, a second site, the comparison stops being close immediately.
SEO and speed
Wix has fixed most of its old SEO problems, but it still cannot match WordPress on schema control, redirects, technical tweaks and page speed. Wix pages carry heavy JavaScript and are served from a global CDN, not a Mumbai server; in India that is typically 300-800 ms to first byte. Our Hostinger client sites are under 110 ms cached. Google's page experience signals favour the faster site.
Selling in India
WooCommerce supports Razorpay, PayU, Cashfree, PhonePe, Stripe and COD, plus GST-compliant invoicing plugins and Shiprocket or Delhivery integrations. Wix Stores in India has a narrower gateway list and weaker local logistics support. For an Indian store, this alone decides it.
When Wix is the right answer
- The owner will build and maintain the site personally and has no budget for a developer
- The site is a simple presence page that will never need to rank competitively
- Zero maintenance is worth paying roughly INR 10,000 more over four years

The lock-in
