The correction worth making
Earlier versions of this page said Bluehost bills in USD from US servers at USD 15-20 renewal, and that Hostinger was cheaper over four years. On Bluehost India's current pricing that is no longer true. Bluehost India bills in INR, quotes Indian visit allowances, and renews INR 120/month cheaper than Hostinger. Its entry Starter plan also allows 10 websites where Hostinger's equivalent Premium allows 3.
So the price argument now runs the other way, and the case for Hostinger has to be made on something else.
What Hostinger still wins
- Backups. Hostinger Unlimited takes daily backups with one-click restore. Bluehost lists weekly website backups on Starter, Business and eCommerce Essentials alike. For a site taking enquiries or orders, the difference between losing a day and losing a week is the whole argument.
- Term length. 48 months against 36. One extra year before you face the renewal decision.
- Data centre choice. Hostinger lets you pick Mumbai explicitly at setup. Bluehost India advertises global data centres without the same per-account control.
- Panel. hPanel is simpler than Bluehost's account area for an owner who logs in twice a year.
What Bluehost wins
- Renewal price, by INR 120/month, which over a second three-year term is roughly INR 4,300.
- Visit headroom, at double Hostinger's guidance on the equivalent tier.
- Bundled security. WAF, DDoS protection, AI malware detection and removal, and a year of domain privacy come with Business. Hostinger sells or omits several of these.
Speed from India
Our client sites on Hostinger's Mumbai servers return cached WordPress pages in 60-110 ms TTFB from Ahmedabad. We have not run a controlled test against Bluehost India's current Indian infrastructure, so we are not going to publish a comparative number we have not measured. The old claim that Bluehost adds 200-400 ms applied to its US-hosted global product and should not be applied to Bluehost India.
The WordPress.org recommendation
Bluehost has been on WordPress.org's hosting page for years. It is a commercial arrangement, not a performance award. Treat it as a sign Bluehost is a safe, mainstream choice rather than the fastest or cheapest one.
Verdict
This is closer than it used to be, and on pure price Bluehost India now wins. Choose Hostinger if daily backups and the 48-month lock matter to you, which for a business site taking enquiries they should. Choose Bluehost if the lower renewal and the bundled security suite matter more and you will keep your own backups. We are a Hostinger partner; factor that in.
